Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 9/17/2025

This Privacy Policy explains how Travis Media (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website.

Information We Collect

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics tool, to understand how visitors interact with our website. Plausible measures only aggregated, non-personal data and does not identify individual visitors. The data points include:

  • Page URL — which pages are viewed (hostname and path only). Query parameters are discarded except common campaign parameters: ref, source, utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term
  • HTTP referrer — the site that referred you (if available)
  • Browser, operating system, and device type — derived from the User-Agent; the full User-Agent is discarded
  • Approximate location (country/region/city) — looked up from IP. The raw IP is discarded and never stored

Unique visitors are estimated using a daily-changing, anonymized hash generated from IP address and User-Agent with a rotating salt. Old salts are deleted every 24 hours, so visits cannot be linked across days or devices.

Information We Don’t Collect

  • No cookies or persistent identifiers for analytics
  • No personal data (PII) such as names or emails
  • No cross-site or cross-device tracking
  • No behavioral profiling — only aggregated trends

How We Use This Information

We use aggregated analytics to:

  • Improve site performance and user experience
  • Understand which content is most useful to readers
  • Make informed decisions about content and features

Data Hosting, Security, and Ownership

  • Plausible’s servers are hosted in the EU (Hetzner, Germany) and protected by EU privacy laws; a global CDN and DDoS protection are provided by Bunny (EU-based)
  • Visitor IPs are used only for location lookup and anonymized hashing, and are not stored in databases or logs
  • Data is secured (HTTPS in transit; hashing at rest)
  • We do not sell, rent, or share analytics data with third parties
  • You retain 100% ownership of your website analytics data; Plausible does not monetize it

Because Plausible does not use cookies or collect personal data for analytics, no cookie banner is required for analytics tracking under GDPR/CCPA/PECR.

The only cookies that may appear on the site are strictly necessary ones for basic website functionality (if any).

Data Retention

Analytics are stored in aggregate form within the EU. We do not store raw IP addresses or full User-Agents, and aggregated analytics cannot be tied back to an individual.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data. Our analytics do not contain personal data, so there is typically nothing to access or delete related to analytics. If you have questions, contact us using the email below.
